General Information
Hello and welcome to fishing the Vilas County area of Wisconsin. As the owner of Eagle Sports and the president of the Eagle River Guides Association, I have been fishing this area for 35 years. I firmly believe this is the best Musky fishing area in the state of Wisconsin. My specialties have been Musky fishing (especially trophies) and lake fly fishing for both Musky and Bass.

Musky Fishing
There are 400 Musky lakes in our general area, and, and we will fish most of the lakes within 20 - 25 miles of Eagle River at some time or another. As you might know, lake selection for trophy Musky depends on seasons and patterns. The spring period finds us fishing in shallower water with light tackle for post-spawn large fish. This fishing extends into the late part of June most years, and is an under-rated trophy fishery. Summer finds us fishing deeper water and low-light fishing for big fish, including night fishing. The fall period annually provides some of the best trophy fishing in the world - right through late November.

Fly Fishing
I provide both equipment and instructions for this fishing. There is some great Musky and Bass fishing on the fly that takes place throughout the months of June and July each year. Trophy potential is there daily at this time of year. Musky provide great fly fishing opportunities in late May and June each year. They are in shallow water at this time, and will hit flies in many cases more readily than "hardware". As they move in to the shallow pre-spawn, and as they cruise daily post-spawn, they can be successfully fly fished. My boat is equipped specially for the fly angler, with a large clear fly platform in the front. Bass are equally good at this time of year, with the Smallmouth fishery being almost untouched here for the fly angler. This is sight fishing - the most exciting type.
